First snowfalls of 2017

Posted by
dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 10 December 2018 in Landscape & Rural.

Cape Town is not known for its snowfalls. but they do happen occasionally, and when they do, they attract much interest from the locals. You can see our first snowfalls of 2017 on the mountains, plus parts of Durbanville as the sun was setting. The image was shot from the roof (that doubles up as part parking area) of a local shopping centre.

a coating of snow always adds that touch of drama to any hill or mountain scene. Nice big view

I like the layers here Rob. The dark clouds and dark landscape in the foreground frame the main view very well and keep the attention of the viewer on the snow capped mountains.

Such a magnificent view. I remember how excited we would get when we could see the first snow on those mountains in winter.
