Addo Elephant Park - just one view

Posted by
dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 23 May 2011 in Landscape & Rural.

No song titles or lyrics today - just a post of one of the views from the Addo Elephant Park. Peaceful - or what?

The mountains in the background are just beautiful. The vegetation in the park in incredibly varied - from the fairly open areas shown here, to parts where all one can see is trees and bushes.

You can see the rain in the distance at the right of the photo. Apart from being treated with sightings of various birds and animals, we also were blessed with a thunderstorm (with spectacular lightning) during our stay.

. . and to think that we used to house elephants in a concrete pit just across the road from me and call it a 'zoo'. Thankfully, the elephants have moved on someplace better and just the concrete remains.
