Journey into orange and white

Posted by
dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 25 June 2009 in Abstract & Conceptual.

I must admit I got my dates mixed up, and thought Friday was the day for the abstract challenge (Suzanne - my apologies - I was going to post a reminder for everyone with a link tomorrow and then discovered the date issue :-( ) Anyway, please see Willow's page for the other submissions.

I will post the follow-up to yesterday's shot tomorrow.

Regarding today's post, I quite like the patterns and textures that have come through on the photo, and thought it would be fun and appropriate to post today.

For those who may be interested, this image will give you an idea of what today's subject matter is. It's the same concept - just a different food.

Looks like some alien planet. What is it? A fruit?

@Nicholas: Hi Nicholas - you posted this before I made an adjustment to my comments and posted a link - it's what was leftover from an orange.

A original and mysterious close-up of an orange. Terrific. It make me think of an extraterrestrial texture...

Just shows how the most everyday of objects can take on this alien abstract feeling when we make them ! Wild and wonderful.

Vinay from Bangalore, India

Truly abstract... I can't believe that its a left over orange! I have seen it quite a few times now, and I am still wondering how on earth can this be a photograph of an orange!!!

25 Jun 2009 3:58pm

@Vinay: Hi Vinay - if you click on the link in the narrative above you will see a tangerine that had had the same treatment. It's just half an orange that has been picked at by our visiting birds.

LauraS from Chico, United States

Great shot, I can't tell what it is, but it is intriguing and sort of extraterretrial. I like it a lot.

25 Jun 2009 4:08pm

@LauraS: Hi Laura - please look at my response to Vinay above - and thanks for the watch.

Michael Rawluk from Williams Lake, BC, Canada

The title gave a clue and I checked the link and I was right. Yehaw. That is a beautiful abstract.

@Michael Rawluk: Thanks Michael - I think you were the only one to have picked up on the clue.
