What a difference a day makes

Posted by
dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 1 October 2008 in Plant & Nature.

Normally our beach at Melkbos is quite clean and flat. We woke up one morning after some stormy weather and I could see that things were remarkably different from the day before. Walked down to the beach and found that thousands of empty mussel shells, black and white, had been washed up onto the shore. Here are some of them, with Table Mountain in the distance.
Title from the song by Maria Grever & Stanley Adams, and amongst others, done proud by Jamie Cullum

@dj.tigersprout: Hi DJ - Jamie is a young British artist. He's got a great feel for the music he performs, and a great voice as well.

Nice shot, but should we be worried that all the shells are empty?

I love the scattered shells along the beach, the way they have embedded themselves in the sand for the most part. Excellent shot and point of view!

It must have been quite the storm. You did a terrific job presenting that gorgeous landscape.

That's a beautiful view. I love the cliffs.

Interesting. I saw a scene like this yesterday afternoon when I walked the beach and it was also cluttered with shells. At one point you had no choice but to walk on them there were too many to step around. We also had some big storms in the last few weeks.

I wouldn't want to walk that beach barefoot! I like the perspective in this shot.

Perfect how you have given the foreground with the shells most of the frame, I like that.
