Flying machines

Posted by dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 26 August 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Early on Monday morning, just as Jacqui and I were having our breakfast coffe on the patio, these two grey herons settled on the top of some huge pine trees about two hundred metres from us.

We couldn't see it from where we were sitting, but the zoom lens picked up the lovely morning sunlight on the trees. BTW - I recently sent this lens into Canon for adjustment, and am absolutely thrilled with the fix that they did - my thanks to Andrew for making me finally get off my butt to do this! The herons by themselves would have been enough, but to then have one of the commercial aeroplanes appearing in the frame while it was travelling on the flight path for landing at Cape Town airport (which is about 30-40 kilometres away from us) just added an extra dimension to the image.

All comments, and especially constructive criticism is truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time.
