Sutherland trip xv - The final curtain

Posted by dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 7 August 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

When I started this series three weeks ago, I had already chosen this image to end off with, to be posted on a Friday. Something peaceful and beautiful to share for the upcoming weekend, with a promise of new things to come.

This was taken on the evening that Jacqui and I did the night tour of the Observatory facilities, from just outside the administration block about ten minutes before the tour started. It was the evening when the outside telescopes froze over approximately one and a half hours later, with temperatures falling to around zero degrees Celcius. A the time of the shot, there was a tiny bit of cloud in the sky, especially for the sunset, but it disappeared soon after and we were left with clear skies for the views of the heavens later that evening that we will never forget.

Thank you all for joining me on this trip - I hope you have enjoyed the photos. I wish you all a magnificent weekend, and look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

All comments, and especially constructive criticism is truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time.
