Promise

Posted by dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 29 June 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Last Sunday we hosted a very special lunch, with the menu coming from a cookery book given to us by my youngest brother-in-law and his lovely wife. They obviously were part of the party and brought us this beautiful bunch of unopened lilies as another gift - filled with the promise of wonderful colour when they opened in the days to follow.

The next morning, both Jacqui and I looked at the flowers and remarked on how wonderful they looked just as they were. The vertical drapes in the background added to a scene worthy of a photograph, and here it is. I played for some time with this image, experimenting with plain black and white, but eventually settled on leaving the colour on the leaves and buds. The photo almost looks like I've applied selective colouring to it, but it's as shot.

All comments, and especially constructive criticism is truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time.
