100mm Macro i - Durbanville Nature Reserve

Posted by dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 15 June 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

This week, amongst other images, I am going to post some photos taken with my new 100mm macro lens (I traded-in my 60mm lens for it about a month ago). The big difference between the two lenses is the focusing distance, and with the 100mm, one can get a little further way from the subject, which makes things a bit easier. Otherwise the quality from both lenses is about equal.
One of the really special qualities of macro lenses is how they bring out extra colour that is not immediately apparent in the subject, and this image is no exception.
This photo is of the flowers from one of the "weeds" in our local nature reserve, arranged on a brown poster board, and then lit with three spots. To give you some sense of size, the largest of the little furry "balls" is about 8mm in diameter.

All comments, and especially constructive criticism is truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time.
