Butterfly

Posted by dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 30 January 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Right at the far end of the nature reserve is an area marked for reclamation. I saw these beautiful flowers (I learnt later that they are actually weeds!) and was busy taking photos of them, when this butterfly decided to land right in front of the camera. The butterflies are quite common in the reserve, but all my previous attempts to photograph them had been unsuccessful as they tend to fly away as soon as one gets close - so this was a real bonus.

The song I have decided to use for my title to the one sung by Maria Carey. I don't particularly like her rendition of it, but the words are great, especially this extract:

I have learned that beauty
Has to flourish in the light
Wild horses run unbridled
Or their spirit dies
You have given me the courage
To be all that I can
And I truly feel your heart will
Lead you back to me when you're
Ready to land

Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me, we truly were meant to be
So spread your wings and fly (spread your wings and fly)
Butterfly (butterfly)

I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

All comments, and especially constructive criticism is truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time.
