Starting a new life

Posted by dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 20 January 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

About four months ago I gave the Bergonia tree that is in a pot on our patio a really serious pruning - so much so that I am sure Jacqui thought I had killed it off (actually, I was a touch nervous as well!). Anyway, after a couple of months, new shoots started appearing. I then accidentally broke off the largest of the new shoots and was quite annoyed with myself. However, Jacqui then took the shoot and put it in a vase filled with water. Numerous roots have now appeared, looking very healthy indeed, and this is a photo of them.
For the photo, I put the shoot in a larger glass vase filled with water, used the early morning sun as lighting, and chose our Rosemary bush as background. And quite enjoy the result.
My thanks to Jacqui for suggesting the shot.
