I am what I am

Self-portrait day – so here I am, surrounded by the many things that make up my life today. From my guitar, my printed and recorded music, my love for good food and wine, my photography, my varied book collection, to of course, my computer. I needed to also include the other main part of my life - my wonderful, caring, and supportive wife, who does not like her photo being taken, so she is here, very close to my heart, in the form of one of her special gifts to me, my favourite t-shirt.
While the words on the t-shirt refer more to some of the red wines in my collection, rather than to me myself – who cares? I love it!
On the historical side, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant way back in 1972. In my working career I have been privileged to serve in a variety of positions – accountant, factory manager, administrative manager, marketing director, and financial director. I also had an 18-month spell at running my own quality joinery business in conjunction with a friend and partner. I then ended the working part of this life’s journey by spending 22 years with Elizabeth Arden South Africa, the last treasured twelve years of which as their General Manager.
I retired at the end of December last year, and am now thoroughly enjoying spending quality time with Jacqui and my other interests.
You will have gathered from the above that I enjoy variety – which is why my photography is probably all over the place with no special theme – but that’s me. Hi - great to meet you!
