I am sailing

Posted by dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 15 October 2008 in Transportation.

The world's second largest sailing ship, the Chilean Navy's training ship, Esmeralda, 353 feet long and with a mast height of 165 feet, was launched in 1952. It's a dash slow, as it took 56 years to reach Cape Town a couple of weeks ago.
I am going to post a few shots, for information purposes mainly. This photo is of the figurehead, a giant Andes condor, national bird of Chile, and a symbol of the country's National Coat of Arms.
Title from the song sung by Rod Stewart
