One of three hundred

Posted by dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 20 August 2008 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

On Thursday last week, a ship lost its load of logs just off Robben Island. This is just one of the three hundred logs that found their way into the sea. The logs are in the process of being found over an immense area of coastline. This particular log (I have no idea what type of wood it is) washed up about two kilometres from the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, which can be seen in the background. I paced it out to be about 13 metres long, but later found markings on the log stating it was 70 (cm) x 1350 (13.5 metres)! It's an absolute monster. Imagine 300 of these let loose in the shipping waters - I'm really pleased not to have been out on the water when this happened.

All comments, and especially constructive criticism is truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time.
