Keep me dry!Posted by dobbino (Cape Town, South Africa) on 19 June 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. When we built and moved into our home almost 15 years ago (it's actually quite small - the plot is only 400 square metres), we had an expert come in to landscape the garden. What was so nice about having the expert, is that he planted shrubs and trees that flower and generate new life at different times of the year. So we are constantly treated to new growth in the garden - even in wintertime. Both Jacqui and I were born and raised in the Western Cape, so rain in winter is an absolute essential - we love this weather! This photo is of our outdoor (yes - we have a small one indoors as well) umbrella plant, which is now generating new leaves, just as our rainy season is under way, taken right after a shower. The shrub is aptly named, and the new leaves are helping to keep our white lady dry. All comments, and especially constructive criticism is truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time.
