New Canon S90 - Sample images iii - Windsurfers

Firstly, thank you for all your input into Wednesday's photo. The top image (with the more obvious dof quality) was taken with the 40D - as is today's post. There is no question in my mind that in the majority of comparative test, the DSLR will come out tops - after all, it does cost more than twice the amount of the compact, is more than double the size, and is a far more complex piece of equipment. But in spite of that, I am seriously impressed with the S90, Unfortunately, since I have had it, there has been little opportunity to really put it through its paces, as we have either had gale-force winds, or days that have been very hazy. So - watch this space!

Below is another comparison - taken at around midday in the gale force wind conditions I mentioned above. I thought the conditions plus the subjects would make a really good test for the compact. Shooting without a viewfinder was challenging to say the least, but I'm not unhappy with the end result (though I was until I saw the images from the 40D!). These images were obviously taken from slightly different viewpoints, but I just wanted to get back into the car away from the wind and so was not too fussy about where I was standing.

So - thanks again - will be interested in your comments today. Have a lovely weekend.

All comments, and especially constructive criticism is truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time.
